Employee of the month

I some how was nominated by my superiors/won employee of the month and pocketed $150 extra this week.

How hard is it to tell the difference between a phone cord, ethernet cable & power adapter. Pretty hard it seems.

Everyday at work, we run into trouble when asking people to unplug one of the above mentioned cords. I think even homeless people in war torn countries know what a phone cord looks like. Its usually a pretty safe bet the power cord is the one plugged into the power outlet. That leaves one cord left, it must be the ethernet cord. People seem to be pretty good figuring out the phone cord/ethernet cord, but are stunned about the power cord.

I used to be subtle pointing it out, but have given up on that.
"It's the cord that plugs into your power outlet, it has a big adapter at the end of it, power cord."

There ain't nothing like this in Fredericton!

I had 4 of the last 5 days off work, making for a good unexpected long weekend.

Thursday featured a trip to Fredericton while Kelly picked out an apartment. The highlight being a chinese buffet visit that brought back memories of my triumphant 51 chicken ball night at a small chinese restaurant in Ottawa about 10 years ago, that had a good xxx shop across the road.

Saturday was my reunion with Captain Morgan.
I joined Kelly for a wedding reception at the rec centre, scoring a pet fish , and seeing a few people who I hadn't seen in awhile, one in about 7 years. Thankfully he didn't recognize me.

The highlight was seeing a real life Viagra commercial; a 70+ year old guy who went to the dance floor several times, with different ladies. And a kid who kept yelling at the band, "Do you take requests?" while performing a varity of air instruments.

Kelly and I left there, picked up Paige, dropped my car off at home, and walked to the BHT. It was with incident, as Paige got attacked by a Junebug on the way, causing the comment, "that's the most fun I've seen all night." from some guys moving furniture.

Once at the BHT, we joined Snaggle, DT, Ben, Cmac, Kyla and later on a pretty intoxicated Oliver. It was a classic draft challenge between DT & Snaggle. I only confused Marv once during the night when ordering a weird drink combination for Kelly and I that caused him some trouble adding up the price for it. My goal of tempting someone to open the cupboard below the big screen tv was almost realized as I had snaggle interested in finding out what is hiding under there.

Kelly, Paige and I left for a visit to the OH, which was rather disappointing --mostly newbies and their parents. One rum & cola was consumed, we over heard a guy stand at the edge of the dance floor and yell, "There ain't nothing like this in Fredericton!" and then we headed back the the BHT.

Upon arrival I recall Cmac asking if anyone could do the "Jimmy Tricks" which I thought sounded like some leud act, but is really just some hand and arm bending tricks.
I was invited into a poker game a couple of times during the night, but resisted and I think my decision was good as I recall a chinese guy suddenly appearing, eyeing the poker game, and then getting dealt in. I'm sure he is a pro or something, how often do you see a chinese guy in the BHT? It wasn't soon after he started in the game that B.Prebble was out and pulled a "man in the chair" on the vlt's. Kelly cashed out with a small winning from the vlt's.

We left there around 2, and headed home. I was up in time to take Kelly to the other side of the river and back home for the F1 race. Some Chinese food was consumed later in the day, with some TPB's and poker to finish off the night.
