Put your finger in it

It was coined by Vanessa as the "Best Halloween ever" and I think we all agree.

Things got under way at Kelly's around 9:30 for a pre drinking Halloween/Birthday celebration.

Upon my arrival I mixed up some Appleton & Cola and then had a demonstration of Joey's costume, which was him on an Ostrich. It had a built in air pump, to pump the front part of his bird up.

As usual at any pre drinking with Kelly, Vanessa, Paige, Nicki, & Stephanie involved, a photo shoot seemed to break out for most of the gathering.
The rest of us watched some hockey. I recall Cmack making a comment about where everyone had gone to take pictures, stating he had a look down the hall on his last visit and only saw a wood pile. I was able to set him straight on there being another room.

Eventually he took over the music selection duties, putting on some classic Everclear & Fine Young Cannibals. I was later able to queue up "It Doesn't Really Matter" followed by the Animal Dance video from Wonder Showzen, I had discovered the previous night. Darcy then requested we view the Cameltoe song/video.

After this we were divided up into groups to fit into the 3 cars which would take us to the BHT. This would not go without incident.

Almost instantly, Paige, aka "Wheels", was front end first into the culvert at the end of the driveway - Claiming to be "Blinded by the light" of another car.

The right front of the car was left teetering over the edge of the culvert, with the left rear a good 3-4 ft up in the air. Laughter was filling the backseat where Vanessa & Stephanie were, while Joey who was in the front seat calmly asked, "Could someone please take my beer?" before he attempted to crawl out.

With only two tires still touching ground, a group of us got in the ditch, and lifted the front of the car up so it would be level, while Paige nailed the gas in reverse, some how this got enough traction and we would be back on our way. Sadly no pictures were taken of this, as it was a downpour of rain at the time.

I'm sure Kelly's grandmother enjoyed seeing a guy on an Ostrich, K-Fed, Napoleon and the rest of us lifting a car out of the ditch. It would have been such a classic picture, I think it might be worth re-staging the event so it can be photographed.

Back on our way, it was Kelly, Cmack & I in with David & Amanda. David not familiar with downtown Newcastle had an interesting fright when he was directed into the left lane by the Royal Bank, followed by some confusing statements from Kelly which made him think it was a two way road, not a one way, causing him to swerve back and forth a few times before we finally set things straight.

Although Marv was not at the BHT, (one can only assume he was out at a Halloween party, dressed up as one of his favorite Tv characters - Paul Teutul Sr. from the Orange County Choppers), Passing Out Weldon was in full force, deep in sleep as we entered. He would wake up/pass out several times while we were there. Robert M. was also on hand with his usual poker game on the go.

Eventually Cmack challenged me to a game of pool. I was not intoxicated enough to play up to my potential, but Cmack was pretty liquored up taking away some of his pool sharking capabilities. Near the end of the match, the rum & cola kicked in, and I was able to make a come back to win the game. - my first time ever beating him. I believe this could be Craig's second straight defeat at the BHT after Vettel was the victor over him on our last outing. I must also give some credit to Kelly for my win, as she took my pool cue to pose for a picture, and also shot one of my balls in.

Next up Cmack & David played a pool match. During this time I took part in some liquor consumption, conversation, fondling, and had to give Cmack some words of encouragement as he was all over the place in the pool game. I calmed him down by some references to the Sublime Directory, suggesting he just envision he is in the forth gallery of the teens section, he was able to bring his game back up to par.

Just as it was time to leave, Jerry M. arrived in the back door, sadly there was no time for any conversation.

While waiting to get in the O'house I advised Sean B. that I would not be producing an ID for him to scan in the ID scanning machine that does the math for you. We made our way up to coat check, which was closed. The door however was open, so Kelly checked our coats for us. Some how they stayed in place/were not stolen.

Craig ordered up a rum & cola in a small glass. He would have to return to ask it be put in a tall glass with more cola.

I only saw a few people I knew; there was a short stop talking to Timmy M., I also met up with a former co worker for some conversation, while threatening another one to log into his hi5 and accept my friend request. Most of the O'house part of the night was spent in a booth overlooking the dance floor & wandering around.

"Wheels" or "Ditch" then decided it was time to leave. She would not agree to taking advantage of the extra hour of action that was available due to the time change.

After dropping Cmack off, we made our way to Mcdonalds.
No one made an exit out of the car to use the bathroom while in the drive thru this time, probably because it was raining heavily and Vanessa & Joey were not with us. Instead Stephanie was in their place.

Even with a bag check before leaving the drive thru, my order was still incorrect. A patty was left off what was suppose to be a double quarter pounder. Once back to Kelly's we ate the food & retired to bed.

I was awoken around 6 or 7am by Rose upstairs. She seems to be busy early on Sunday mornings, running from one end of the house to the other, while fielding several phone calls.

Eventually a few hours later everyone else got up. At some point it was mentioned by Kelly that when "Wheels" went in the ditch it didn't make any noise. I made a correction to this statement, that the only noise when she went in the ditch was laughter.

I will leave this post with a video for your enjoyment.

Coming Lou!

Saturday saw a classic BHT outing.
I'm pretty sure Allen Legere was on hand, as was the Montreal pornstar Malezia.
Another BHT question was answered, the one of, "What is kept in the cupboard under the TV?" was solved when Marv had to retrieve an item -- toilet paper.

Andrew & I showed up pretty early, claiming the usual table and settling into a few drinks before making our way to the pool table to begin our usual best of 5 challenge. I was still sober at that point, loosing the first two rounds. It wasn't until the third frame that the liquor started to kick in, making my pool playing super powers come out. In the end Andrew came out the victor 3 games to 1, taking the title.

It was around that point which CMack, Graeme, Don, Marty & others showed up, we settled into more drinking, & classic BHT conversation.

Allen Legere's friend approached Kelly who was at another table with her friends, asking if she could bring up his myspace page on her phone. Sadly the url was not obtained.

Later in the night, Andrew made his way to Subway with Graeme & company, while I proceeded to the bar to return my glass before heading to the O'house with Kelly & company to obtain a burger. I cannot go home at the end of the night without a good burger.

I ended up in a 25 minute conversation with Jerry M. covering such topics as how his wife will only let him go to the BHT, & I brought up the topic of the sad state of teachers around here these days, in reference to one that was on hand. Jerry enjoyed this and proceeded to say, "Yeah that's right, f*ck I'm glad my kids aren't in school anymore!" Some conversation was also had with Marv & Robert M.

The O'house was a pretty quick stop, walking through, getting a drink, finishing walking through and out. I did stop to harass James. S for a bit. No burger was obtained, but as usual "Wheels" was taking us to McDonald's.
Outside Kelly hugged a few people, we met up with Joey, talked with James H., then headed for the car.

The drive was not without incident. We made it halfway there before Kelly declared she was going to be sick, we pulled over. "Wheels" seems to always be prepared, having professional vomit bags and a box of Kleenex on hand in the back seat. We continued to McDonald's. Some where along the drive, Vanessa was able to determine where I get my haircut, just by running her hand through it. That is like a mechanic being able to tell where you had your last oil change by touching the filter.

It seems we can't go through the Mcds Drive Thru without someone running out of the car into the distance to use the bathroom. This time it was Kelly & Vanessa. The drive home was without incident, as everyone was busy eating.

Once back to Kelly's, my plan was to watch the F1 race. Some how she did not get any of the 3 channels it was on. I had to settle for Comedy Centrals Roast of William Shatner. It was pretty good, but nothing close to the Dennis Miller Roast.

Sunday I woke up around 4am on the floor with all the blankets, I'm not sure how I achieved that. I got up, put the blankets back on the bed with Kelly, got some water and returned to the floor, since it was cool. Sleeping would not last long, being woken up by the sound of a bell ringing upstairs followed by, "Coming Lou!" at 6am.

Later in the day it was off to the grocery store with Andrew, other than having a defective cart & seeing a couple former teachers, it was without incident. Eventually later in the afternoon we ended up hitting some golf balls at the BBBF, sadly we did not find C.T or any bodies behind the ball field when retrieving the balls.

A few hours later I made a pizza, eating the whole thing, followed by passing out for awhile.

Holiday Monday featured a viewing of "License to Drive" for the first time in over a decade, it was probably better then what I remembered.

You will be successful in your work ... in bed

I saw something tonight. Something that I had thought for years, I would never again see. The gas price being in the 80's. 89 cents tonight at the Petro.

I remember years ago declaring I would do something if the gas price ever returned to 80 some cents. The problem is I forget what that something was. I'm sure I spoke of it to someone, so if anyone remembers, please remind me.

The title of this post was what I received in my fortune cookie the other day, with 'in bed' added on. Always add 'in bed' to the end of your fortune to make it more entertaining.

What does he want me to do, go to EI and say hello there, I've been hauling shopping carts out of ponds for 18 years...give me a fu*kin check please

Friday saw a visit to the theatre for some Jackass 2. I don't remember the first one but knew the only way to see # 2 would be in a theatre for the reaction of others. I don't think anyone stopped laughing the whole way through, probably one of my favorite movies of the year.

The Trailer Park Boys movie finally comes out in a few weeks, October 6th.
There is only one way to properly watch it; get liquored up, catch the early showing, then go to the BHT afterwards.
View the trailer here.

Saturday night started off at my house with Kelly, Vanessa, Paige, Nikki & Stephanie. After about 200 pictures being taken & a game of Malarky, we finally made our way to the BHT.

I had my usual drink, while watching some older people try dancing to some 80's favorites on the jukebox. Due to the lack of anyone being there, we quickly made our way to the O'house.

It wasn't long until Kris G. yelled out the phrase, "Who the Fu&*k would wear that dress here!" in the direction of some falling over bridesmaids.

We had front row seats for 3 girl on girl dance floor fights. While a lot of punches were thrown + a few kicks, not many made contact. I would only give it a 6.5/10. What happened to the days of throwing a glass or bottle at each others head?

Paige - aka 'Wheels', took us to Mcdonalds. It was a lengthy wait in the drive thru, but thanks to Joey's running off to use the bathroom and harassing Paige, it seemed to pass quickly. I had the Double Quarter Pounder. I also scored some ranch sauce - this is important as I was viciously denied requesting it in a previous visit. I will keep it in my fridge for years as a memory.

After finishing food, Kelly requested to be pushed around in a shopping cart by Vanessa, so we headed for Walmart. There were some employees outside though. Eventually we found some carts out back of Northumberland Square for the mission to be completed.

The drive home was not without incident, a few complaints from Joey about having to shit himself followed by what Paige claimed to be a cat crossing the road, which caused a near rear end by a tailgating taxi.

You know you're in trouble when Cory Feldman thinks you should have an intervention

The other day I stumbled upon what I thought was a disturbing trend.

Teachers.
The high amount of people I went to school with that have become teachers. I can count 5 or 6 without thinking about it. I think they will all be good at it, but missing something.

Back in my day, teachers were people who had life experience, & told stories about it almost every day.

They wrote books, built pools, escaped a DUI conviction, had a student-teacher sex scandal, got high on history, and appeared on jeopardy.

You could learn more from listening to their stories than the actual material being taught in class.

Now it seems everyone I know becoming a teacher has never left school. They went from high school, right into university, and right back to school for work. I'm sure they have gathered life experience, well drinking experience, while in university.

Don't get me wrong, a career of always being in school has advantages. Like never working a summer or weekend, & "I get older, they stay the same age."

Anyway this trend bothered me until I remembered a key factor. All of us have heard a line like this from a parent about one of our teachers; "(enter name here)! He/She couldn't teach a dog how to shit." or a reference about them being an alcoholic. So I guess things will pretty much work out to being the same.

I look forward to some interesting parent-teacher meetings when I'm older. "Hey do you remember when we used to try and set this classroom on fire?" or "You were pretty drunk at the BHT the other weekend, was that a student you were with?"

On a side note, as discussed with Andrew, it's been a long time since M.Leblanc has been seen out drinking, or out doing anything anywhere. My theory is, with all the history being made in the middle east these days, he is home taping CNN 24/7 and writing his own textbook, titled "Getting High on History"

I hope to get a signed copy.

Sometimes I just go for it

Last week Kelly & I headed to F'ton for a few days.

Night one featured some drinking with Andrew & Tracy.
I was unaware I consumed half my Southern Comfort during the sitting that featured some random card games, television viewing & musings.

I finished the night off in style with a super donair & garlic fingers.

The following day Andrew & I made our way for some golf, followed by a short recess break then downtown + mall adventure.

It was my first golf outing in about 8 years. I was where I expected to be, which was like starting all over.

I think golf will become a more regular hobby for me, as I need some non alcohol related activities. Although I'm sure as with pool, my golf game would be better with some alcohol, especially if it was at a course called "The Blackhorse"

After a visit to the hobby shop & a walk around downtown, we headed to the mall. I didn't buy anything, but this trip would later inspire my book wish list, & amazon purchase of "Modern Drunkard" based on the website.

Other notables I want to purchase are; "The Complete A**hole's Guide to Handling Chicks"   "Uncle John's Gigantic Bathroom Reader"    "101 Things to Do Before You Die"  &  a few other website based books like Tucker Max's "I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell" & the "College Humor Guide to College"

The Fredericton trip was capped off by one of Kelly's trademark supper gatherings, featuring Vettel, Tracy, Snaggle & Kyla.

The food was excellent & I introduced everyone to "Date My Mom" the lamest or best show on tv. Be sure to check it out on youtube.

After that it was off for some poker & excellent truths behind 80's songs.

Last Saturday Kelly & I joined Vanessa & Joey for some BHT/OH action.

It was a pretty laid back evening, eventually we met up with Oliver & JD for some conversation,& along with a few other people during our wandering around.

The night was finished off with some Subway rabbit food & watching Scarface till 4am.

The following day, I awoke not knowing I would later play "Supermarket Sweep" ---- I went to the grocery store at 4:51. I first got a basket & was just going to get some essential items, due to the closing time of 5pm. After a few feet into the store, I was reminded of the phrase, "Sometimes I just go for it" & decided to go for it.

I got a cart, & completed my grocery list by closing time.

Fast Forward: Uncle John's Bathroom Reader & The College Humor Book, have been given to me as a birthday present from Kelly.

Get your coat, we're going out...

Saturday, I grabbed a shower around 9, enjoyed some Ultimate Prince Igor, then made my way down to the BHT to meet up with Oliver, JD, Jimmy & his g/f. I was flying solo for the night as Kelly was working.

First stop as always, was the TD bank. I have strong distaste for the new Green Machines. The 700 language options, flashing green lights around the debit card slot, & slow sticky keys are a real annoyance.

I grabbed my traditional drink at the BHT(rum, ice, dash of cola), made my way over to the table for some conversation & Jimmy Tricks.

After a couple hours of consumption, conversation, & story telling, I made my way outside for a special secret meetup with someone, then some conversation with Rob. M.

Next we made our way to the OH.
It was pretty empty --- that would not last long.

Some initial wandering around took place, before sitting down above the dance floor. JKenny was the first to appear, soon after Jimmy's sister appeared, then some of Kelly's friends, all while JD was away for a drink. By the time he got back, the place had suddenly gone from no one, to a pretty large crowd.

It wasn't the high school reunion type of crowd I enjoy, but was decent. More wandering around, sitting, & conversation took place, along with me being JD's Wingman, taking him to his missions, looping around, taking him back to home base when needed.

The drive home was provided by JKenny, I secured the shot gun position. Not 30 seconds after leaving we were pulled over by the 5-0, with four(4) in the back seat.

Jimmy felt a ticket was coming for sure as he was the odd one out with no seat belt, but after observing JKenny was a DD & there was no open liquor in the car, the reason for the stop was disguised as "no lights on" & we were back on our way.

During the stop the 5-0 made a comment about all the liquor being in our stomach, to which I recall Jimmy making a comment along the lines of , "Until we get home to the toilet."

"If is a very long word in Formula One; in fact, 'if' is F1 spelled backwards."
I watched the F1 race Sunday, it was interesting, & unpredictable to the finish, then returned to sleep for a few hours.

"Shake & Bake."
Monday night Kelly, Vanessa & I, along with a lot of other former MVHS people, attended the theatre for Talladega Nights. There were some funny parts, most were the ones shown in the commercials, probably the best part was about baby jesus, & the bloopers at the end.

Although I've been out of school for several years, I discovered I still group people by the year they graduated, & probably always will --- unless I discover a better system.

The next night it was back to the BHT. The field was myself, Kelly, James H, then joined by Kyla & JKenny, soon after Jermey & Jessie joined. A few drinks & conversation were had, but was a low key event, as can be expected on a Tuesday. Cmac also appeared for a bit.

If anyone wonders what Marv does when its not busy, I discovered the answer Tuesday night.
He enjoys snacks from the vending machine, watches Orange County Choppers, American Hot Rod & some original CBC programing.

After the BHT, Kelly, James & I headed to Tim Hortons for some food. It took 4 attempts before they successfully toasted my sandwich. The final result was rather good though.

Fresh off the grill

A couple of weeks ago was Kelly's parents anniversary party.

There were a lot of things that could have been the highlight of the night; - The older woman telling some guy about how she does strip aerobics as her husband walked in, sitting down beside her, - Pauly(no mafia) attacking balloons, yelling, & starting to strip, - comments from Kelly about a woman of P. Curtis type, - Vanessa dressed as the Hamburgler.

But the highlight was Kelly's uncle David (aka Ron Jeremy look a like).
He had by far the best dance moves I have ever seen in my life, both in person or on tv.

Decked out in classic late 70's/early 80's attire ( striped red/white shorts, numbered shirt, not mesh) and had moves that can't be put into words. The best way to explain it was a combination of his upper body twisting to one side while his legs were going in the other direction, the knees doing a thing of their own. He could teach classes on how to do this shit.

All in all, it was a pretty solid event, I finished off my night of rum&cola + Ultimate Prince Igor with a couple pieces of cold KFC. I forgot how good that is after drinking, and how much a mistake it is for KFC to be closed when the bars get out.

I don't remember too much from the week. I kicked off this past weekend Friday morning with a 6am jog downtown. It was pretty calming running down there early in the morning with some music, if you can put up with the smell of shit coming out of the sewers & the 3 old people who drive around town at that hour.
I had a flock of seagulls follow me for a short bit through the Ritchie Wharf parking lot, thankfully none of them shit on my head.

Friday night was finished off by a couple of hours worth of looking for something outside in the rain in thick brush, I cannot go into further details of what that item may or may not have been.

Also Friday I received my acceptance letter to the APA for January. That means 5 months left before I become an official adult, 5 months left for drinking adventures, followed by 35 weeks of hardcore training, no alcohol.

Saturday I slept most of the day, highlight being a visit to BK where the following phrases were said to me; - "Nice Ride" - "Here you go, fresh off the grill"
I will admit it was the best BK Quad Stacker I've had yet. This thing had a whole layer of bacon, I'm sure they put half a pack on it, and triple the cheese.

I woke up this morning to watch the F1 race, followed by a few more hours of sleep.

Monopoly has finally arrived in the year 2006, getting rid of the money, in exchange for debit cards.

This is long over due. One of the biggest reasons I don't like the game is having to count, & we all know someone who cheats with the money, usually the person who is overly anxious to be the banker. This will also make it easier to drink & play, which is really the only way I like to play.

- Captain Bee's Blog. By far the best blog I've read in a long time. An anonymous blogger from the U of Windsor. I actually sat through reading back to the beginning & have copied a couple pages worth of posts to notepad for printing.
One of my favorite entries is Random Thoughts from Christmas Mass

Star Palace

Kelly & I ventured to Bay Du Vin last Sunday for some beach time, I sustained a pretty good sunburn & now have color for the first time in several years.

Wednesday I traveled to PEI to the APA to do polygraph testing, making solid highway time, arriving 2 hours earlier then expected.

During both adventures I took some random scenic shots while driving that turned out pretty good as they were one handed out the window @ 80-90km/h.

- "Luna City Arcade"
I had flashbacks of Star Palace when viewing these pictures.

2006-07-06

My friends call me Tom.

A late review of the Canada Day - RnR Festival Weekend.

Things kicked off Thursday with a short trip to Beresford & back, it was a pretty straight forward trip, all business no amusement, little cannonball/gumball like action on the highway.

Later in the evening Kelly & I obtained supper from mymotherskitchen (the restaurant, not my mother's kitchen). I suggest everyone try the Club Sandwich from there -- I have eaten a lot of club sandwiches at a lot of restaurants, this one by far is the best. It is not your typical chunks of what appears to be chicken mixed with mayo. I think it has become #1 on my list of food, pushing the Lunar Rogue burger to #2.

A few hours after supper, & after a late beat the traffic - back street dash to TH, that turned nasty at the drive thru window, Kelly & I settled intheVIP (not the website, my roof) for the fireworks display. Usually they are shot off far to the right, but this year they were directly in front of us, I could have probably sold tickets for seating.

Saturday's events got under way late due to a delay in the arrival of Vanessa, Stephanie & Nikki to my house to join Kelly & I for pre intoxication. However, after experiencing Nikki's driving later in the night, I'm surprised they arrived at all.

Drinks were consumed at my house, along with what seemed to be a couple hundred photographs taken, while I tried blocking out conversation to watch a pretty good Comedy Channel special -- which I was able to later catch in the early morning hours.

I had just started to get a decent feeling from my liquor, when we departed for Dooly's. The drive, although by a sober driver(Nikki), was frightening. It started with what seemed to be an attempt at backing up straight out of my drive way into traffic on the King Geo, followed by narrowly missing a couple parked cars while trying to park. It quickly returned me to sober state.

After getting some drinks & sitting down inside, the highlight of the night occurred.

We discovered Ray Combs didn't actually kill himself after an episode of Family Feud. He is alive & drinking right here in this city, although claiming to be someone else, looking exactly like Combs.
Approaching our table he took a step back, viewing the females, then came closer to make some comments. Eventually saying something along the lines of Nikki being the pick of the crop & that Vanessa had potential.

When he introduced himself, Vanessa started the trend of giving him fake names. I introduced myself as Tom, everybody's friend. (as myspace tom was the first thing that came into my mind)

He eventually headed back to the poker room, thanks to the quick thinking of the bartender who delivered his drink back there on purpose, then told some stories about him. Dooly's was pretty much a splash & go type of stop, as there was hardly anyone present.

We proceeded to the OH, which had a decent size crowd, but lacking the high school reunion feel.

After getting some drinks, we walked around talking to a few people, eventually sitting down. While making our way to sitting down one of the bouncers who I have never seen before, made the comment, "Did that feel good?" as Kelly & Nikki had to squeeze by him. Once seated, I tapped his back, & once he turned around, asked him if that felt good.

Next up we spotted James H. for some conversation, grabbed some burgers, eventually meeting up with James again for a drive home, during which he had to yell at a large female to get out of the way or he would run her over.

I stayed up for a good while after getting home, discovering Rambo on TV & it seemed to capture my attention.

Around 4:30am I heard a lot of meowing outside. I made my way downstairs, out the back door, to see if a local kitty was in trouble or needed some food & water, but it turned out to be the cat in heat that has been around here lately, who desperately runs around meowing looking for pussy.

Sunday featured viewing of the USGP. I missed the early action laps though, due to a conflicting engagement. Sometime during the weekend, possibly Sunday, I recall watching England get beat out of the World Cup.

Photoshoot

It was finally nice enough out to wash the car yesterday, & take some photos of the result.

The trouble with retirement is that you never get a day off.

As planned, I retired from work Friday, for the summer. Reasons: Because I can, & because it is probably the last chance I will have to take a summer off for about 25-30 years. So far there has been a lot of catching up on sleep, watching World Cup action, along with watching the Oilers shit the bed.

I must be off for some lunch & viewing the 1984 classic 'Bachelor Party' Hopefully it is as good this viewing, as it was 10 years ago.

2006-06-06

Remember Danny - Two wrongs don't make a right but three rights make a left.

Things got under way with a classic BHT outing Thursday night as Andrew & Tracy were in town.

It featured the regular billiards duel against Vettel, a Quiet Riot jukebox selection that got louder during play, I could certainly 'Feel the noise.' & alternative lyrics to 'Mony Mony' being shouted by an older lady who would later buy us drinks.

We joined B. Savoy for some mingling with sketchy people, including one guy who randomly got up & started taking pictures of some girls, later pulling out a stack of photos of local females. It turns out he is an actual photographer, not just a pervert with a camera.

There were several classic comments & stories heard through the night, a billiards team match against a couple of guys from my work, some conversation with James. S, & catching up with some former classmates who have returned home, including Kenny. M.

I think the BHT should be the new via/smt station, because whenever someone gets back home, it is one of their first stops.

Friday Kelly & I departed for PEI, my first journey across the straight.

We stopped off in Moncton for supper, meeting up with Julie & Brad.

I was reminded of why I don't eat anything at Wendy's except the giant burgers ... the buns taste like Wonder Bread, which is total shit. At least with the 4 patty burger, the grease soaks into the bun making it taste good.

We arrived in PEI pretty late, checked into the hotel, I took advantage of the free wireless internet & did some final studying while Kelly had a shower.

Saturday I did my APA tests, passing both, & getting to do the psychological testing, results to follow in a few weeks.

We left PEI, headed to Moncton where every restaurant was fully packed, eventually we decided to stand in line at Ponderosa. The meal was actually okay this time, but looses points on the processed meat in the burgers, & also for not labeling things at the salad bar, causing me to eat something that should be illegal to taste.

From now on at restaurants when I'm asked my last name for the order, instead of having to spell out my real last name, I will just be using a fake one.

Sunday was a day of catching up on sleep, I had Monday & today as scheduled days off from work, Saturday & Sunday were sick days I had to take after they wouldn't switch the schedule around.

The hype of Walmart here seems to have been replaced by Boston Pizza. Everyone wants to either go there or work there, in the end you are just eating or serving food, get over it.

2006-05-17

A Rooster Named Red

It was 25 out on my last day off(Monday) so Kelly & I headed to BayDuVin to comb the beach. Although we didn't see Relic, we did see a lot of crabs, clams & interesting birds.

2006-05-08

I've never seen anyone buy condoms before

The weekend got under way Wednesday after wrapping up 9 days of work in a row.

I had some drinks & played poker before walking down to the BHT to meet Kelly, Brad & Julie. Drinks were consumed, conversation was had. We were joined by James H. who like always, had some good stories to tell.

Things proceeded to the OH where it was pretty empty. Walking in the door it was like being on Oblivous, as the door person was asking us questions related to what herpes are & how they are transmitted.

We met up with M. Morris, at one point he made a remark that Kelly didn't like so she threatened if he didn't take it back, she would give him a thumbs down on hi5.com. It appeared to work. The comment was along the lines of her only being on his hi5 friends as a result of me being on his list.

One of the most disturbing things of the night was the presence of a male bartender at the OH. My thoughts on this are simple, keep CC's on the other side of the river, don't ruin tradition at the OH. He will look pretty funny dressed up as a school girl.

The drive home was scary, getting the most dangerous female taxi driver in the city. She appeared to be awake this time, but was smoking, while pointing to the 'No Smoking' sign above her head, saying she needed to. We made it home safely.

Saturday I woke up with my first cold in probably a year or more, so most of the day was spent sleeping. Eventually I got suited up for BHT/OH round II.

I was picked up by Kelly, Brad & Julie. We were joined this time at the BHT by Hillary, Bryan & some others before departing to the OH. It was a full house, some notables, some 14 year old types, & a couple of my hi5 friends were noted, (which I think should become a new game, like spotting someone from here at a mall in another city is played).

During a bathroom break an older guy bought some condoms, after he left I over heard the other two guys in the bathroom giggle like school girls saying, "I've never seen anyone buy condoms before!" I was going to ask for ID to make sure they weren't 12.

Eventually sometime after 1 it got to be too hot so Kelly & I departed to get a couple burgers. The guy who bought me a drink a few weeks back was noted during this time. He wasn't intoxicated enough to buy me another one.

Once again we got the same taxi driver. This time she took a personal phone call, crossing into the other lane a bit, quickly telling the person she would call them back. We made it home safely.

Burgers were had. I was sober by the time we got home, having only a few drinks due to the extreme heat at the OH.

I woke up Sunday in time to watch the F1 race, my cold much worse. After more rest, Kelly & I finished the weekend off watching the TPB's.

I took a sick day from work today with no voice, spending the day watching tv.
The highlight being the quote, "If you have to take reading material into the bathroom with you, maybe you go in too soon."

I used to party here when I was your age. I still party with people your age.

Maybe it was the all girl cage fight at the OH or the 2 free drinks I had through the weekend, that made it one of the better recent outings.

I had to make a quick departure from work Friday morning after feeling like I was suddenly going to throw up all over the place, turns out I was not the only casualty with the same issue. By mid day I was feeling much better, but still a bit off.

Kelly & I were picked up in the evening by Hillary & Bryan, joining them for some supper at the OHouse. It was the largest crowd I've ever seen there for food.

Bryan purchased my first free drink of the weekend, my first time meeting him, putting him on the acceptable list in my book of people to or not to hang out with.

We had supper and then called it an early night around 10 as I had to work Saturday.

Work was pretty slow, I dozed off 3-4 times & don't know how I managed to make it through the day. An early supper, followed by a nap was then had to get ready for the night. I received a telephone call from Kelly around 7:30 that put a hold on the nights plans. Eventually things were worked out.

Kelly & I began drinking at my house, making it to the BHT around 11, flying solo for the night. The BHT was dead, only a few people there, and they actually resembled what a crowd at Billy Bob's in Bville must have looked like years ago. We had a couple of drinks & talked, I opted out of the poker game invite partially due to the lack of a decent crowd.

We moved along to the OH. Soon after grabbing a seat, a large fight broke out in the cage - an all girl fight, it appeared to be 4-5 on 1 or 2, lots of punches thrown, but hard to say if any made good contact. A group of bouncers was quickly on the scene to haul them all away, to large applause of the crowd.

Later on a guy Kelly knows was walking by, sat down for a moment, she asked what he was up to, his response, "no good." and got up, leaving quickly.

Later on upstairs at scruples, we were waiting to get some service & an older guy (in his early 30's) came beside me and got service first, he ordered me a drink at the same time, some how it happened to be a double rum & cola.

I recognize him from some place, possibly parties from my younger years, he claimed to be a local legend while talking to me, & appeared to be the real deal. "I used to party here when I was your age. I still party with people your age."

Eventually we made our way home, upon arrival home I made some wings, and we stayed up for about an hour, although Kelly thought it was much longer.

I got up early Sunday for the F1 race which was pretty good. After the race I celebrated the title of Sunday nights TPB's by heading to Mcdonald's for a Cheeseburger Picnic.

Yesterday Kelly & I headed to Scary Movie 4, which was decent, but not worth theatre viewing.

In other news I'm thinking of a lawsuit against the Tv show "Scrubs" regarding the episode that aired last week. It featured a Mr. "enter my last name here" who was having trouble with his laptop. During the time I was changing hard drives in my laptop after the old one was defective.

You are probably going to buy drugs with it

I've been pretty busy the last couple of weeks working two weeks worth of shifts in a row, along with getting some stuff ready for next years possible endeavor to the APA.

Last week I came up with the plan of a surprise visit to Fredericton to see Kelly on Wednesday. I ditched work about a half hour early Wednesday, at that point I hadn't done anything, literally in about 73 minutes. I caught the bus, the ride uneventful, judging by the massive amount of tobacco spilled all over the back of the bus, I'm guessing I missed the eventful ride full of released & soon to be convicts.

I grabbed a taxi to Kelly's where I was able to gain entry as the door was unlocked, with Steven home, I did not have to break in like I was prepared for.

I watched tv for a couple hours, then decided to hide in her bed moments before she arrived home from class. She was in her room trying to call me, making several attempts, before I stuck my head out of the blankets, scaring her fairly good, I'm sure it would have been a winner on Americas Funniest Home Videos.

Thursday saw Kelly & I joining Andrew for some supper at the Lunar Rogue. Easily the best burger I have had in my life, period. It will become the only eating establishment in Fredericton that I officially endorse, as I have never had a good meal at any other restaurant in the city except for the chinese buffet place.

Some drinks were also consumed, before we moved along to Jester's Court for another drink, conversation and taking in the view. There are no windows, but I know I found lots to look at inside.

We grabbed a cab back to Kelly's where some television was viewed.

I grabbed the bus back home today, again an uneventful journey, with the exception of the following comment after our stop at a store in Boistown, "you forgot to get my pop" --- "i got your chips though, i couldnt find the rest of the money" --- "yeah right, you are probably going to buy drugs with it in burntchurch"

I went for an eye exam earlier in the week as part of my application process for the APA, and found out my eyes aren't as bad as I feared. I actually have 20/20 vision when I squint, 40/20 without squinting. I racked up a couple of reference letters as well, which I might start requesting from people yearly, as its a pretty good ego boost to see the regard your held in.

Why are we roasting you? You're Irish, shouldn't we be boiling you?

Friday featured work, followed by a nap. Then I watched Comedy Central's Roast of Dennis Leary, eventually enjoying some alcohol, making my way to the Blackhorse around 11:30 to join Kelly, Vanessa & Hillary.

After some consumption, conversation & greeting people I knew there, we proceeded to the OH, where the only other people present seemed to be a few people I work with. The finger was given & received(giving the finger to/receiving it from certain fellow employees has become a tradition at my work, a right of passage some might say), along with more consumption & conversation, before coming home. A rather light night due to the lack of a crowd, which seemed to all be at the Tide.

Paige = "Wheels"

I had an extended 4 day weekend.
After finishing up 8 shifts in a row Wednesday afternoon I found myself at the start of my own March break and cannot recall much from the first few days.

I know they were filled with some sleep, some grocery shopping, some George Carlin comedy, spending time with Kelly, getting a massive tax refund(almost enough to buy a real doll) and some movie watching.

Saturday was the main event. Things started off around 6 for supper at the Portage with Kelly. Like always the food was ready in about 24 seconds.

I believe Kelly was hit on by the waitress who was fairly friendly, a large tip was left.

We then proceeded to Blockbuster to rent a pre drinking game, but they didn't have my top two choices and I think my thoughts were summed up by some old lady complaining to a worker, asking for a copy of a movie that was all rented out, "You really dont have anymore? That's sad." I ended up settling for NFSMW.

Kelly & I returned to my house to play it for an hour after a short stop at her house where she picked up a home made bottle of wine.

Soon we were joined by Paige, Vanessa & Joey. Conversation & alcohol were had.
I enjoyed 3 glasses of Cockspur while Kelly consumed the entire bottle of wine.

We departed straight for the OH, which is an offense under section 104.8.2 (a) which states all drinking establishment adventures within the city of Miramichi must begin at the Blackhorse.

The OH normally would have had a large crowd for March Break, but for about the first half hour it seemed more like an empty Sci -Fi convention by the crowd on hand.
Soon the newbie's started filtering in, making it resemble a teen dance(it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't look like kids from the family channel), finally a few regulars appeared, including a fully in the bag J. Scott who looked like he was going to do a jump into the crowd from the cage at one point.

Mainly we sat around, making fun of people & conversing with passer bys, including James H. who always has some good stories to tell.

The price to get in is up to $5, & $1 for coat check under the new ownership. I think the end of an era might be near with the B movie crowds & the changes, its just not the same going without it resembling a high school reunion(complete with a couple trashed teachers), knowing the majority of the staff & hijinx outside at closing.

I think I'm finally old enough to say I remember this town when it was my generations, its almost time to hand the keys over to the kids. Hopefully the Blackhorse will remain sacred.

Kelly & I left with Paige(who i'm going to refer to as 'Wheels' from now on since she is always driving) heading for McDonalds.
Kelly gave one of the workers a hard time for swearing, then had a nose bleed. Unclear if the two events were related in a karma way.

We made our way back to downtown where a few trips around were had, while Kelly took random pictures, yelled things at people, gave the finger & then wrapped things up by giving the shocker all the way down Pleasant Street.

I recall staying up watching a movie around 4am but cannot recall what it was or was about. I fell asleep for a short time, waking up for the F1 race.

Around noon I departed to return Kelly & Steven to Fredericton, early into the drive I developed a strong need for a cheeseburger platter. A request was made that Kelly telephone Andrew to find out where I could obtain a good one. We met up with Andrew & Tracy at the Hilltop, and had a few good laughs, mainly at the expense of some other patrons. I sadly did not order the cheeseburger platter, opting instead for the Philly Cheese Steak. Now on the menu it clearly said it was made with roast beef, which I figured if your bold enough to call a roast beef sandwich a Philly Cheese Steak then it must be good. However it tasted like Subway with one of their shit sauces. I think I will stick to Jungle Jims for my Cheese Steak needs.

I then returned home.

Finally we can put a face to the name, I give you the real life, Chester The Molester.

Are you the girl who drinks gin?

I ended up having to work the weekend, preventing a trip to Fredericton for the Andrew Savoy Birthday Celebration Gala 2006. To add insult to injury the work schedule was changed again at the last minute, adding more days to my work week, to which I wouldn't put up with.

Thankfully Andrew, Tracy and Kelly were able to make it here for the event Friday night, and I was able to take non alcohol-fueled part in, as I had been up since 5am, and worked again Saturday at 6am.

The night started off at the Scorebored as it will now be referred to.

Eating while watching paint dry would be more exciting then the new atmosphere. Maybe I will get a business loan, turn it back into a sports restaurant/bar called, "Perley's" -- The waiters will wear track suits and the waitresses volleyball attire. The backroom vip area will be called "The Changing Room" -- Use your imagination to think of what some of the menu specials will be.

After eating we headed to the Bob Savoy residence for some poker, Kelly opted out though and was dropped off at another location.

The poker game was pretty good, I had a strong finish after a weak start, usually my games are the other way around.

We then proceeded to pick Kelly up and head to the BHT.
The bartender made the comment of the night to her, "Are you the girl who drinks gin?"

Soon the place filled up, and while Andrew & I were trying to play our regular pool challenge, Rob from work invited us to a poker game. It was pretty solid, and some good laughs were had.

I recall at one point in the night B. Savoy had the bartender fetch some old school photos of the Blackhorse.

A bunch of people from my work then showed up so I was glad I wasn't going to try calling in sick the following day. Kelly shit the bed playing the machines with the coins it would accept and soon the night finished up with Andrew & Tracy grabbing a taxi to the OH with the fill in bingo caller, although he denies it I know he has filled in a couple of times, and heard him make several bingo references during the poker game.

At this point Kelly & I exited home for my 3 hours of sleep before heading to work.

I wonder where the mall janitor/security guy parties?

This weekend saw my return to the Tide/Cowboys for the first time since the infamous brawl 6+ years ago started by Peter M. that sent 5 to jail, 2 to hospital, including an old lady who was trampled down the stairs as everyone ran outside to avoid the flying furniture. The event went on to make the front page of the coming weeks 'Leader' and a follow up article a few months later in the 'Weekend' when it went before the courts. I wonder if there is some sort of award when your in both papers, like an album going double platinum.

Things started off rather late at my house.

While Kelly got ready, I enjoyed some Prince Igor & Taking Back Sunday for quick intoxication.

We were picked up by Paige & Vanessa, then proceeded to the Blackhorse. It was rather full, full of people who probably didn't have ID's.

Mulletman made me a solid Rum & Ice, with a dash of cola, it went down smooth.

After that we made our way to the Tide/Cowboys. I felt like I was in a zoo with all the Cougars roaming around, there were plenty of people to make fun of, and questions such as "I wonder where the mall janitor/security guy parties?" were answered.

There was also a Dawson Brother sighting. The highlight was meeting up with Franklin V. for a bit to catch up on some good stories. We departed there, and went to the OH.

It was a solid crowd of mostly up and comers on the bar scene, but there were a few familiar faces. I think the highlight was watching the dance floor and Chris pointing out the old lady with no bra on under her shirt, almost exactly at the same time as Kelly & Julie picked up on it, as did the people in the booths on either ends of us.

Later on I met up with Evan C for some conversation. Kelly made it to see the lights come on at the OH for what I believe is the first time ever, it was a proud moment for me.

We then made our way to Subway which was pretty quiet, Kelly changed that outside later though harassing people going into Pizza Twice, by telling them they were all out of Pizza. We then made a mad dash to a taxi that was dropping someone off at Fletts.
