Downsizing

If there is one cause I will fight for in life, it is the right to have a proper sized burger.

Its no secret the size of fast food burgers have been decreasing over the years. I can remember when a Big Mac, was actually .... big.

Gradually over time, along with every other burger, they have become smaller and smaller. You go through the drive thru, get a bag so small, nothing can possibly be inside it. Inside there is a cardboard box(leaking grease because it should be a styrofoam container) with a patty half the size of a cd and about that thick. A whole head of lettuce stuffed in between the buns to make it appear big. There is more special sauce then meat. You can only assume all that dripping grease is from a spill they had inside, because your patties are dryer then the cardboard box it came in.

These days the only burgers I bother to order are the double quarter pounder at Mcdonalds and the Triple at Wendy's, which is really the only real burger on the market out of the big fast food chains in Canada --- and I have no problem travelling 80km's to Bathurst to get it.

They even give the option of the "not on the menu item" a 4 patty grand slam. More burger then most people know what to do with. It's sad when going to get a burger you have to ask for the "not advertised item" like your a shady character at the local taxi stand looking for the "not advertised liquor and smokes"

Fast Forward: Thankfully burger enthusiasts worldwide have been making their own giant burger creations, such as this, this, and those found here. BK has come out with the stacker series, 2, 3, or 4 patties, lots of cheese, a layer of bacon. No veggies. The Quad Stacker is now the only fast food burger I will eat.

I agree with you on most parts about the parents not doing their job and teaching their about kids proper nutritional choices, but what about the ads on TV that make the kids scream and want the Happy Meal toys so bad that their parents are driven INSANE to the point of not knowing what else to do.. I think industry should share some of the blame

no means no though, and the even so, it doesnt mean they have to collect all of them in one week.

Ive stopped eating the fast food burger for the most part, mostly due to the fact that I am fussy and they usually fuck up my "ketchup only" request. However, due to my 3 or 4 year moritorium on McDonalds, and my more recent one at Wendys, I will only eat at DQ, Burger King and A&W, the last being my favorite. I find burger king can taste like cardboard most of the time.

So I prefer to make my own burgers. I use whatever spices I can find and its usually greasy as hell. I limit myself to this meal biyearly.

And as for the "secret orders" at fast food places, I believe at Subway the spicey italian that I order is rarely on the menus, but everyone there seems to know how to make one.

The DQ burgers are pretty good, the only problem I have is the 20 minutes to make it here sometimes. What is the burger you get at AW? I always seem to get one drenched with special sauces. I think the spicey italian you speak of is the best named none menu item, its like your asking for italian version of a dirty sanchez. I wonder if there is a secret capaciccino drink at Tim Hortons with so much cream in it, its not on the menu and you have to ask for a "BUKKAKE!"

I just get the mama burger.

Are you familiar with the "13 pack timbit" that one of the drivethrus offered that came with drugs?

haha i think that is the most popular item there, along with the request of "3 scoops of white powder in that coffee."
