Are you the girl who drinks gin?

I ended up having to work the weekend, preventing a trip to Fredericton for the Andrew Savoy Birthday Celebration Gala 2006. To add insult to injury the work schedule was changed again at the last minute, adding more days to my work week, to which I wouldn't put up with.

Thankfully Andrew, Tracy and Kelly were able to make it here for the event Friday night, and I was able to take non alcohol-fueled part in, as I had been up since 5am, and worked again Saturday at 6am.

The night started off at the Scorebored as it will now be referred to.

Eating while watching paint dry would be more exciting then the new atmosphere. Maybe I will get a business loan, turn it back into a sports restaurant/bar called, "Perley's" -- The waiters will wear track suits and the waitresses volleyball attire. The backroom vip area will be called "The Changing Room" -- Use your imagination to think of what some of the menu specials will be.

After eating we headed to the Bob Savoy residence for some poker, Kelly opted out though and was dropped off at another location.

The poker game was pretty good, I had a strong finish after a weak start, usually my games are the other way around.

We then proceeded to pick Kelly up and head to the BHT.
The bartender made the comment of the night to her, "Are you the girl who drinks gin?"

Soon the place filled up, and while Andrew & I were trying to play our regular pool challenge, Rob from work invited us to a poker game. It was pretty solid, and some good laughs were had.

I recall at one point in the night B. Savoy had the bartender fetch some old school photos of the Blackhorse.

A bunch of people from my work then showed up so I was glad I wasn't going to try calling in sick the following day. Kelly shit the bed playing the machines with the coins it would accept and soon the night finished up with Andrew & Tracy grabbing a taxi to the OH with the fill in bingo caller, although he denies it I know he has filled in a couple of times, and heard him make several bingo references during the poker game.

At this point Kelly & I exited home for my 3 hours of sleep before heading to work.

haha Scott Geiki's(sp!!) mother owns it and he's the manager!

and by it i mean the scoreboard. Is it still called that?

haha i should have known, and yep they kept the name, either to cash in on its reputation or the back room is still sports themed, i did not see it when we were there.

Sitting in there is like sitting in mark's living room to eat, minus the tv and couch

you say that like my living room is a bad thing, its just the color of paint that is the same.

It will probably do really well seeing the amount of older people in the city. My Mom claimed the place was "way better under new management"....although the real reason I couldnt finish my chicken fingers is because of the lack of background music or anything all I could hear was the old people behind you, and their adult diapers filling up.

If I had known the information Kyla revealed, I would have yelled "It's a long walk to your car Geikie!!!!!" before leaving incase he was in ear shot.

haha I think it's a sad attempt at making Miramichi a civilized place... the place that used to be the awesome Coffee Oasis, is now called "Fruit of the Vine" and it requires you to give them your left nut/overy for anything to eat...Krista and I went there over the break, we paid somthing like $14.00 for nachos and iced tea, and ALL the tables are lopsided!! it's crazy!

Maybe that is what happened to Tater's N Cream. It tried to go upscale and failed miserably.

The Scorebored isnt really that nice on the inside too. It looks unfinished. Sadly, Jungle Jims is one of the finer establishments on the river now..and thats closed for remodeling. I just realized what that means now

i think you solved the mystery, i wonder where the TnC van is and why it hasn't been put up for sale, it would be an excellent addition to the backyard instead of just a bbq....

haha fuck, they must be trying to make some cash so they can level out the floors.

we might have to go back just so you can yell that at geikie

Maybe its being upgraded for use in a new porn site: "You Want Fries With That!?"

Now where am I going to go to get some Taquitos?

You're right, though. Dining options on the Miramichi are limited...when the family and I end up going out it's usually to either Pizza Delight, Jungle Jims or the Cunard.

true, soon we will have boston pizza to go along with the other 4 or 5 pizza places around here. i think right now the portage is the best place on the river, good selection, and by the time you order, your food is already ready, its that fast.

alright, i cant resist anymore, i need to let loose on this, Geikie keeps the paint scheme boring and the no music, so you will hopefully pass out and he will take you "out back" to what is no longer the sports bar, but what is an S&M dungeon.

In other news, i predict that T&C will be moving to outside of Nicky Z's in the Tannery on April 27th, 2006, just remember you heard it here first

Thirdly, Mark i would like to try the new beta please

i bet the name changes soon to "Geikie's - Where its ok to use the back door!"

hope T&C has been away being armor plated for the past few years, as I hear the rival food truck does not take kindly to competition. I believe the last person that tried was intimidated out of it...or so the rumors go.
